It's All Her Fault

So I realize that I'm opening a huge can of worms with this post, but it's something I feel quite strongly about. I've honestly avoided talking about this issue because it can be so controversial, but after reading something earlier, I feel the need to share my opinion. Also, this is MY opinion. You can agree or disagree, but please don't try to change my mind. I'll respect your opinion so please respect mine.

Earlier this afternoon as I was browsing through Facebook, I came across a post from a page I follow called Humans of New York. If you don't follow it, I would highly recommend it. It gives you a whole new perspective on other people's lives and cultures. It is truly my favorite page on Facebook and the one that is the most thought-provoking for me. It has been responsible for changing my opinion on various topics, one of those being the Syrian refugees. His pictures of and posts from the refugees changed my opinion from being mostly against the refugees and allowing them into America to now having mixed feelings leaning more towards allowing them in, but also taking precautions. But that's not what I want to talk about. My point is that his pictures and the stories that go with them can be very influential and eye opening.

Noah

Noah:  it's the film that has divided Christians, has delighted critics, and has intrigued movie goers.  When I first heard of it, I was skeptical to say the least, skeptical that it would actually follow the true Biblical story of Noah.  With actors such as Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson, and Jennifer Connelly, none of whom I have ever heard claim to be Christians, I doubted that anything good would come from this film.  When I heard that the director, Darren Aronofsky, was an atheist and had claimed that Noah would be the "least Biblical film ever made", I was even more suspicious.  And for my part, I think I was correct.  Nearly everything I have read points to the fact that Noah strays as far as possible from the actual story while leaving in just the bare minimum of truth so as to be able to call it the story of Noah.  The Matt Walsh Blog gives a well thought out and fairly detailed synopsis of the movie from a Christian point of view.  I would check it out before reading the rest of this post.

A Heavy Heart

It is 2:30 in the morning and I have to be up by 5 am so I can be to work by 6:30.  By all rights, I should be in bed asleep, but I'm not because something has been weighing on my heart since yesterday afternoon.  As I mentioned in my post last night, I read a blog about someone's views on The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, and the like.  I'm not going to name names or anything, but I really struggled with what was said.  In the post, the author stated that these books and the movies based off of them are of Satan, that there is nothing good about them.  Anyone who knows me can probably imagine that I immediately had an issue with this.  I've always known people who didn't want to watch or didn't want their kids watching Harry Potter or even Lord of the Rings, though to a much lesser extent, because of the magic involved.  I could understand that.  I didn't think any less of them and the fact that I did read and watch them didn't seem to affect them either.  But as I read this article I felt like I was being attacked, felt that I was less of a Christian because I did enjoy them and that if I didn't do away with them then I was serving Satan, not Christ.  It hurt, it still hurts and as I said, my heart feels heavy.  I have to admit, my first instinct was to lash out at this unknown person.  How dare they make me feel this way.  You know how people talk about hitting non-Christians over the head with the Bible won't turn them to Christ?  Well, that's how I felt, like I had just been hit over the head and I didn't like it.
